Israeli Forces Conduct Raids in Lebanon for Months, Military Reports

JERUSALEM – Israeli forces have been conducting raids in southern Lebanon for several months, uncovering tunnels and weapon caches belonging to Hezbollah, as well as the group’s invasion plans, according to Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari on Tuesday.

Hagari announced that these findings were being declassified shortly after Israel revealed a ground operation against the Iran-backed Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

The operations have exposed detailed plans by Hezbollah to infiltrate Israel and execute attacks similar to the one carried out by Hamas in southern Israel on October 7 of the previous year.

“Our soldiers entered Hezbollah’s underground infrastructure, discovered hidden weapon caches, and seized and destroyed various weapons, including advanced, Iranian-made armaments,” Hagari stated.

The evidence collected from raids in villages in southern Lebanon will be presented to the international community, he added. Hagari shared videos from soldiers’ body cameras showcasing what he claimed were Hezbollah tunnels beneath three Lebanese villages located near the Israeli border. The forces also discovered maps that identified Israeli communities and military positions.

“The operations we declassified tonight are just a fraction of the numerous operations we plan to reveal in the future, which will include the destruction of Hezbollah’s strategic assets and capabilities,” he remarked.

Hagari indicated that ground raids would persist until thousands of Israelis displaced from the border area can return safely to their homes, although the military aims to complete these operations swiftly.

“We’re not advancing to Beirut or the cities in southern Lebanon. Our focus remains on the villages adjacent to our border,” Hagari concluded.
