US Imposes Sanctions on West Bank Settler Group, According to Treasury Department – Reuters
The United States announced sanctions on Tuesday against a violent settler group operating in the West Bank, which the Treasury Department stated has consistently attacked Palestinians and damaged their property in the region.
According to a Treasury statement, the group, known as Hilltop Youth, is contributing to instability and undermining the peace and security of both Palestinians and Israelis through its violent actions.
The group has been responsible for killings, arson, and various attacks aimed at intimidating Palestinians, resulting in significant destruction within communities, as noted by the Treasury.
Bradley Smith, the acting under secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, commented, “The worsening violence and instability in the West Bank are detrimental to the long-term interests of both Israelis and Palestinians, and the actions of violent organizations like Hilltop Youth only worsen the crisis.”
