Digital Euro Successfully Tested at the Bank of France

On May 20, Banque de France announced that France has become the first country to successfully trial a digital euro, which operates on a blockchain. This development follows a call for new technology to support such an initiative at the end of March.

The bank reported that it conducted a sale of securities using central bank digital currency (CBDC) on May 14, marking the start of more extensive testing for the digital euro.
