U.S. Urges Iran to Stop Space Launches Violating U.N. Resolution
The U.S. State Department acknowledged on Thursday that it is aware of reports regarding a failed Iranian attempt to launch a satellite last month. The department called on Tehran to cease any activities that breach U.N. resolutions.
During a news briefing, State Department spokesman Robert Palladino confirmed the reports, stating, “I’ve seen the reports, and it failed, correct?” He emphasized the U.S. stance, urging the Iranian regime to immediately halt any actions that are inconsistent with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231, which includes space vehicle launches. Despite the failure, Iran has indicated it is preparing for another launch in the coming months.
