Musk to Integrate xAI with Social Media Platform X, Reports Reuters

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, will be integrated into his social media platform, X, and will also be available as a standalone application, as he announced on Sunday.

Musk revealed that xAI has released its first AI model, a bot named Grok, which was made accessible to all X Premium+ subscribers on Friday. The goal of the startup is to develop AI tools that “assist humanity in its quest for understanding and knowledge,” with Grok designed to provide responses infused with a sense of humor.

Having previously criticized the AI initiatives of major tech companies for their censorship, Musk launched xAI in July, branding it a “maximum truth-seeking AI.” This initiative aims to explore the nature of the universe and compete with existing AI models like Bard and Bing AI.

Musk emphasized that Grok has real-time access to information via the X platform, noting this as a significant advantage over other models. Although X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, and xAI are separate entities, they collaborate closely, and xAI also partners with Musk’s electric vehicle company.

Last week, during an event with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Musk described AI as “the most disruptive force in history,” predicting it will revolutionize various aspects of life, potentially rendering current employment structures obsolete.

In 2015, Musk co-founded OpenAI, known for developing ChatGPT, which has spurred widespread interest in generative AI technology; however, he stepped down from its board in 2018.
