
France Stocks Mixed at Close of Trade; CAC 40 Down 1.51%
Investing.com – French stocks exhibited mixed results at the close on Friday, with gains in certain sectors partly offsetting losses in others.
By the end of trading in Paris, one index dropped by 1.51%, while another rose by 2.24%.
Among the top performers of the day, Engie SA increased by 1.45%, adding 0.23 points to reach a closing price of 15.80. Safran SA also posted gains, up 0.57% or 1.20 points to finish at 210.20, and Orange SA rose by 0.51% or 0.06 points to close at 10.83.
Conversely, the worst performers included STMicroelectronics NV, which fell by 4.88%, losing 1.27 points to settle at 24.87. Edenred SA experienced a decline of 4.46% or 1.65 points, closing at 35.34, while Eurofins Scientific SE dropped 3.63% or 1.98 points to end at 52.50.
In the SBF 120 index, Lectra SA was a standout performer, rising by 2.07% to 29.60. Voltalia SA followed with a gain of 1.74%, reaching 8.18, while Engie SA’s increase was also noted.
On the flip side, Forvia saw a sharp decline of 8% to 7.96, X Fab Silicon Foundries EV lost 6.31% to settle at 4.69, and Opmobility SE decreased by 5.92%, closing at 8.03.
Overall, declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by a ratio of 306 to 189, with 83 stocks remaining unchanged.
STMicroelectronics NV’s share price fell to a three-year low, while Forvia’s shares dropped to a five-year low. Similarly, X Fab Silicon Foundries EV reached a three-year low, and Opmobility SE also fell to a five-year low.
The measure of implied volatility for CAC 40 options remained unchanged at 18.96, marking a new 52-week high.
In commodity trading, gold futures for December delivery saw an increase of 1.21%, adding 31.70 to reach $2,646.30 per troy ounce. Crude oil for November delivery fell 0.28% or 0.20 to hit $70.96 a barrel, while Brent oil for November declined 0.57% or 0.43, trading at $74.45 a barrel.
In currency markets, the EUR/USD exchange rate was nearly unchanged, slightly up by 0.01% to 1.12, while the EUR/GBP exchange rate increased by 0.17% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index futures rose by 0.14%, reaching 100.46.
