SEC’s Gensler Prioritizes Banks Over Impartial Regulation, Claims Rep. Tom Emmer
United States Representative Tom Emmer expressed strong criticism of Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler during a hearing of the House Financial Services Committee on September 27. Emmer accused Gensler of favoring Wall Street to the detriment of innovation, competition, and the interests of everyday Americans.
During over four minutes of questioning, Emmer referenced Gensler’s extensive background in finance, which includes 18 years at Goldman Sachs as a partner and co-head of finance. Emmer argued that Gensler’s connections to the financial industry hinder his ability to act as an unbiased regulator.
