Italy’s Insurers Association Explores Blockchain for Alternative Dispute Resolution
Italy’s National Association of Insurance Companies (ANIA) is initiating a blockchain pilot project within the insurance sector, as outlined in a recent press release. The organization intends to utilize technology to facilitate the resolution of disputes related to car-liability claims before they escalate to litigation. ANIA is partnering with several entities for this initiative, including Reply, the CeTIF Research Centre focused on technology, innovation, and financial services at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, and IVASS, the Institute for Insurance Supervision.
The trial is centered on an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service, which enables insurance companies and their customers to settle disputes amicably without resorting to court proceedings. The initiative will be part of the Insurance Blockchain Sandbox, a regulated virtual environment designed to test innovative technologies in a controlled setting.
