Franklin: A Very Powerful Category 4 Hurricane – U.S. NHC Reports
Franklin is currently a powerful Category 4 hurricane, posing life-threatening surf and rip currents along the southeastern coast of the United States, according to the latest advisory from the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC).
As of Monday, Franklin was situated approximately 440 miles (710 km) west-southwest of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds nearing 150 mph (240 kph). The NHC indicated that while some additional strengthening may occur overnight, a gradual weakening is anticipated to begin late Tuesday.
