Hurricane Milton Expected to Intensify on Its Way to Florida, Says NHC
Hurricane Milton is expected to undergo rapid intensification over the next few days, potentially reaching major hurricane status by Monday, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
As of now, the hurricane is located approximately 290 miles (465 km) west-northwest of Progreso, Mexico, with maximum sustained winds reported at nearly 80 mph (130 km/h).
The forecast indicates that Milton will move north of the Yucatan Peninsula, traverse the Gulf of Mexico, and approach the western coast of Florida by the middle of the week.
