House Committee to Revisit Digital Dollar Discussions in Sept. 14 Hearing
The United States House Financial Services Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Inclusion is set to hold a hearing focused on central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) for the first time in several months.
In an announcement made on September 7, Republican members of the committee revealed their intention to examine the implications of introducing a CBDC, along with exploring “private sector alternatives.” This discussion, titled the “Digital Dollar Dilemma,” is scheduled for September 14, approximately two weeks prior to a testimony from U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler before the full committee.
