North Korean Group Behind $41M Stake Hack, Says FBI: Cointelegraph Report
The recent $41 million hack of the cryptocurrency gambling platform Stake was attributed to the North Korean Lazarus Group, according to an announcement made by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on September 7. The group has reportedly stolen over $200 million in cryptocurrency in 2023 alone.
Stake provides a range of services, including casino games and sports betting. On September 4, the platform fell victim to a cyberattack that resulted in the loss of more than $41 million worth of cryptocurrency from its hot wallets. The Stake team reassured users that the hacker managed to access only a small portion of the funds and that overall user accounts would remain secure.
