China Reduces 10% of Global BTC Hashrate: Who Will Fill the Gap? By Cointelegraph

The government of Sichuan province in China is taking steps to eliminate Bitcoin (BTC) mining activities. Officials attribute this crackdown to a surge in cryptocurrency prices, which they claim has resulted in an increase in illegal activities masquerading as mining operations.

Estimates from Cambridge University indicate that Sichuan accounts for nearly 10% of the global hashrate. Remarkably, this single province produces more Bitcoins than the combined output of both the United States and Russia.
