Did you notice the song that Christian Bale’s character was enjoying in his office when his partner entered to collect funds in The Big Short? It happens to be my favorite metal band of all time: Metallica. The track is titled "Master of Puppets." Ironically, as I was writing this article about the real truths surrounding the current collapse of our financial and economic markets, I was reminded of that memorable scene from the movie.

The Big Short centers around the severe financial crisis of 2008, primarily triggered by the actions of the United States Federal Reserve. Consider this a spoiler alert: this will likely be one of the last mentions of any kind of “correlation” in this piece.
