Kremlin Indicates No Immediate Actions Following Putin’s Proposal to Ban Metals Exports, Reports Reuters

Moscow – President Vladimir Putin’s suggestion to limit exports of Russian metals has prompted discussions among officials, although no specific actions have been finalized, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

Peskov explained that the proposal arises in response to ongoing Western economic sanctions and is not connected to the issue of Ukraine utilizing Western long-range missiles. “These are completely unrelated matters. This is linked to the practice of illegal trade restrictions and the constant attempts to impose new trade limitations against our country,” he stated.

He further clarified that there are currently no concrete details regarding the proposal, which aims to ensure that any potential restrictions do not harm Russian interests. “It was a proposal to think about it without causing damage to ourselves,” Peskov added, indicating that the government would take time to evaluate the proposition.

During a government meeting earlier in the week, Putin mentioned that Russia should contemplate limiting exports of several commodities, including uranium, titanium, and nickel.
