NATO Chief Urges China to Halt Support for Russia’s War in Ukraine, Reports Reuters

OSLO (Reuters) – NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday urged China to cease its support for Russia’s war in Ukraine, asserting that Beijing’s assistance has been a crucial factor in the war’s continuation.
"China has become a decisive enabler of Russia’s war against Ukraine," Stoltenberg told reporters in Oslo. "China is responsible for enabling the production of many of the weapons that Russia employs."
Stoltenberg cautioned that China’s ongoing support of the war could have negative repercussions for its own interests and reputation. "I call on China to stop supporting Russia’s illegal war," he stated.
China has previously labeled similar remarks from NATO as ‘malicious’ and biased.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed in July that he does not wish for China, which shares a "no limits" partnership with Russia, to act as a mediator. Instead, he hopes that Beijing will exert more pressure on Moscow to bring an end to the conflict.
