Japan and China Foreign Ministers to Meet in New York, Reports Reuters
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa is scheduled to meet with her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in New York on Monday, as announced by the foreign ministry.
During their meeting, Kamikawa plans to emphasize the need for enhanced security following the stabbing of a Japanese schoolboy in China, according to reports from public broadcaster NHK.
Tragically, a child attending a Japanese school lost his life in a stabbing incident last week in Shenzhen, southern China. This marks the second attack near Japanese educational institutions in the country in recent months.
In light of these safety concerns, some Japanese companies operating in China have considered repatriating their staff and their families, as diplomatic relations between the nations remain tense.
