ECB Holds Rates Steady; No Change in Asset Purchase Size
The European Central Bank (ECB) has decided to keep its key interest rates unchanged during its recent policy meeting. The main lending rate remains at 0.0%, the marginal borrowing rate at 0.25%, and the deposit rate is set at -0.4%. The ECB signaled that it anticipates these rates to remain at their current levels, or potentially lower, for an extended period. Additionally, the bank has decided to maintain its asset purchase program at a pace of €80 billion per month. Following the meeting, the euro was steady against the dollar at $1.106. ECB President Mario Draghi is scheduled to hold a news conference at 08:30 ET.
