SubWallet Enhances User Experience with Polkadot Bridges and Swaps Integration, According to Chainwire
Hanoi, Vietnam, July 2nd, 2024
In the final weeks of June, SubWallet introduced support for the Kusama and Polkadot bridges on its browser extension. This was soon followed by the integration of the Asset Conversion pallet on its web dashboard, which enables users to swap assets such as DOT, USDT, and USDC within the Polkadot Asset Hub network. These advancements significantly broaden the use cases within the Polkadot ecosystem, marking SubWallet as the first wallet to offer these features with an intuitive user interface and seamless user experience.
Polkadot Expands Ecosystem Use Cases
The second quarter of 2024 has seen significant progress in the Polkadot ecosystem, entering the production and launch stages of many long-term projects. Notably, the Polkadot Kusama bridge and the Polkadot Ethereum bridge, both of which have been in development for several years, are key highlights.
Unlike most existing bridges, which tend to have some degree of centralization, Polkadot’s bridges are fully trustless, greatly mitigating risks associated with asset transfers. Currently, users can securely bridge DOT and KSM between the Polkadot Asset Hub and the Kusama Asset Hub, as well as several tokens, including WETH, between the Polkadot Asset Hub and Ethereum.
Another noteworthy development in Q2 2024 is the launch of the Asset Conversion pallet on the Polkadot Asset Hub, which facilitates asset swaps registered on the network. Since its launch, the Polkadot Asset Hub has been designed to serve as the liquidity hub for the entire ecosystem, and the introduction of the Asset Conversion pallet represents a significant step towards achieving that goal.
SubWallet Elevates Polkadot UX
While these updates are innovative, they could prove difficult to navigate without a user-friendly interface. That’s where SubWallet steps in. With over 2.5 years of experience in creating a user-friendly wallet for the Polkadot ecosystem across three platforms—including a browser extension, mobile app, and web dashboard—SubWallet has amassed more than 1.6 million downloads and over 800,000 active users and devices as of June 2024. Its integration of both the bridges and Asset Hub swapping uniquely positions SubWallet in the market.
Hieu Dao, Co-founder and CEO of SubWallet, remarked, “As a proactive member of the Polkadot ecosystem, we closely monitor updates and strive to be among the first to provide support. Polkadot has often been labeled as user-unfriendly, and it is our mission to change that perception. Bridging and swapping are vital components of the burgeoning DeFi landscape that Polkadot is developing, and we aim to offer users the smoothest experience with SubWallet.”
Bridging is implemented directly in the Transfer function, while swapping is available in the Swap tab. The cross-chain transfer is integrated into the swapping process; for instance, if a user wants to exchange DOT for USDT on the Polkadot Asset Hub but only possesses DOT on the Polkadot chain, SubWallet will guide them to first transfer their assets from Polkadot to the Polkadot Asset Hub before proceeding with the swap. This streamlined feature also applies when users seek to engage in liquid staking with SubWallet using DOT from the Polkadot relay chain. Thus, users can easily explore new functionalities within a familiar user interface without needing to navigate third-party applications or relearn new processes.
The swift integration of these features has received overwhelming community support, with the official Polkadot X account sharing the announcements followed by numerous key opinion leaders also reposting them.
To further its mission of onboarding users to the Polkadot ecosystem, SubWallet is committed to supporting upcoming ecosystem updates promptly, ensuring users have a straightforward experience when exploring these features.
