US Auto Regulator Launches Investigation into Over 77,000 Nissan SUVs

The U.S. auto safety regulator has initiated a preliminary evaluation of 77,131 Nissan vehicles due to reports concerning a potential issue with the steering tie rod.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that the investigation will focus on the 2021 Nissan Rogue crossover models. It began following reports of failures in the inner tie rod, which could lead to a loss of steering control.

The evaluation aims to examine the safety implications, as well as the extent, frequency, and underlying cause of the reported defect.

Earlier in June, the agency launched a separate investigation into approximately 75,000 Nissan 2015 Rogue Select vehicles after receiving reports of accidental side airbag deployments in some models.
