Ryanair Anticipates Boeing Delivery Disruptions to Continue into Mid-2024
Ryanair is facing significant delivery delays for the 737 Max aircraft due to a recent supplier issue affecting Boeing. According to reports, these disruptions could extend through mid-2024.
At a recent meeting, Boeing informed the budget airline that it would only be able to deliver 14 of the 27 aircraft scheduled for delivery by late December. This information was shared by the airline’s CEO in an interview.
The delays are primarily attributed to quality issues at Spirit AeroSystems, the manufacturer responsible for constructing the jet’s frame. Boeing plans to reschedule some of the aircraft deliveries for the peak summer season next year, while Ryanair is seeking to obtain the planes sooner.
In August, Boeing delivered just 35 aircraft worldwide, marking its lowest output since April, as it works to address a manufacturing defect on the often sought-after 737 MAX. Ryanair has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the situation.
