India Stocks Rise at Close of Trade; Nifty 50 Up 0.15%

India’s stock market witnessed positive movement following Thursday’s trading session, with notable gains in various sectors.

At the close of trading on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the market index increased by 0.15%, while the broader index saw a rise of 0.29%.

The standout performers for the day included NTPC Ltd, which climbed 2.37% or 9.80 points, finishing at 423.95. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. gained 1.75% or 32.25 points, closing at 1,871.95. Titan Company Ltd also saw an increase of 1.49% or 55.60 points, ending the session at 3,780.95.

On the other hand, the worst performers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd., which declined by 3.47% or 11.65 points to 324.45. Coal India Ltd fell 1.88% or 9.15 points to end at 477.95, and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd dropped by 1.77% or 5.15 points, closing at 285.25.

In the BSE Sensex 30, top performers were NTPC Ltd, rising 2.48% to 424.10; Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, which increased by 1.95% to 1,874.90; and Titan Company Ltd, gaining 1.86% to close at 3,793.00.

Conversely, the underperformers included Larsen & Toubro Ltd, down 1.18% to 3,685.65; JSW Steel Ltd, which fell 0.91% to 946.90; and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, decreasing by 0.87% to 4,308.85.

In terms of market breadth, declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange, with 1,840 stocks falling against 627 that advanced, and 109 remaining unchanged. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2,639 stocks declined while 1,168 advanced, with 91 unchanged.

NTPC Ltd achieved all-time highs, increasing by 2.37% or 9.80 points to 423.95, and on the BSE, it also reached a record high of 424.10 with a 2.48% increase.

The volatility index, which gauges the expected fluctuations in Nifty 50 options, decreased by 6.94% to 12.44, marking a new one-month low.

In commodity markets, gold futures for December delivery rose by 0.48% or 12.55, reaching $2,611.15 per troy ounce. Crude oil for November delivery also appreciated, gaining 0.84% or 0.59 to $70.47 a barrel, while the Brent oil contract for November increased by 0.75% or 0.55 to trade at $74.20 per barrel.

In currency trading, the USD/INR pair fell by 0.03% to 83.66, while EUR/INR appreciated by 0.43% to 93.45. The US Dollar Index futures were up by 0.05% at 100.33.
