Binance Denies Asking for Listing Fees Following Leaked Email from Cryptovest

Binance, currently the second largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, is facing allegations that it demanded fees from smaller coins for listing them on its platform. CEO Changpeng Zhao is firmly rejecting these claims.

The controversy arose following a purported leaked email from Binance, shared by Cristopher Franko, co-founder of Expanse, which indicated that Binance requested 400 BTC (approximately $2.5 million) in exchange for a listing. In response, Zhao stated that the company does not list “shitcoins” regardless of the fees offered.

Zhao further claimed that the email shared by Franko is a spoof and not genuinely from Binance. He emphasized that the company never discusses fees via email and that project owners should be vigilant against email spoofing. According to Zhao, those who cannot identify such scams should reconsider issuing a coin, as the method of communication can reflect the quality of the project.

Concerns about exchanges charging fees for listings have long been a topic of discussion within the cryptocurrency community.
