
Mexico Stocks Rise at Close of Trade; S&P/BMV IPC Up 2.35%
Mexico’s stock market experienced an upward trend after the closing bell on Tuesday, driven by significant gains in various sectors.
At the end of the trading day, the index climbed 2.35%, reaching a new one-month high.
Leading the session’s gains were Industrias Peñoles Sab De CV, which surged by 7.25%, adding 20.08 points to close at 296.94. Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. followed closely with a 7.15% increase, or 1.02 points, closing at 15.28. Additionally, Grupo Financiero Inbursa Sab De CV saw a rise of 6.01%, or 2.67 points, bringing it to 47.09 by day’s end.
On the downside, Controladora Vuela Compañía de Aviación Sab de CV experienced a decline of 1.54%, dropping 0.19 points to settle at 12.13. Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste decreased by 1.12%, losing 6.39 points to end the day at 565.26, while Grupo Elektra, S.A.B. De C.V. remained flat, unchanged at 944.95.
In total, advancing stocks outnumbered those that declined on the Mexico Stock Exchange, with 133 stocks rising compared to 87 that fell, and 12 remaining unchanged.
Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. reached a 52-week high with its 7.15% gain. Conversely, Grupo Elektra hit a 52-week low, remaining unchanged.
In commodities trading, December gold futures increased by 1.12%, or 29.60 points, to reach $2,682.10 per troy ounce. Crude oil for November delivery rose by 1.66%, or 1.17 points, to $71.54 a barrel, while December Brent oil remained stable at $74.46 per barrel.
The USD/MXN exchange rate saw a slight increase of 0.16%, settling at 19.34, while the EUR/MXN rate remained unchanged at 21.61.
Finally, the US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 0.51%, reaching 100.04.
