Central Banks Disinterested in Consumer Digital Currency, According to Visa Executive

According to an executive from Visa, consumer-oriented digital currency solutions may not gain traction among central banks. Cuy Sheffield, Visa’s head of crypto, expressed skepticism on May 18 regarding central banks’ intentions to offer a central bank digital currency (CBDC) directly to consumers. He emphasized that he does not foresee a serious interest from central banks in this area.
