Agoric Introduces Orchestration for Next-Gen Web3 Applications

San Francisco, California, July 10th, 2024

Revolutionizing Multi-Blockchain Coordination with Seamless User Interactions

Agoric, a layer 1 blockchain focused on chain abstraction, has announced the launch of its Orchestration API, enabling developers to design advanced Web3 applications that can efficiently coordinate digital assets and services across various blockchain environments. This new toolset allows users to enjoy streamlined interactions, enabling them to deploy liquidity and access multiple blockchains with a single click.

Currently, more than $2 trillion in liquidity is divided among various blockchains, including layer 1s, layer 2s, layer 3s, application-specific chains, sovereign rollups, and subnets. This fragmentation often leads to complicated and laborious experiences in the Web3 space. While some solutions such as bridges and interoperability tools have emerged, they still fall short due to limited programmability. Basic tasks, like using assets from one blockchain to pay for services on another, often require numerous actions and signatures, which result in crypto assets being confined within isolated ecosystems.

The Orchestration API is set to transform multi-chain use cases:

  • For users, it allows for genuine chain abstraction, simplifying cross-chain experiences.
  • For developers, it provides cross-chain programmability through a multi-block execution environment and straightforward JavaScript APIs to manage accounts and assets on remote chains.
  • For the Web3 ecosystem, it enhances composability across protocols, unlocking liquidity regardless of the originating blockchain.

Dean Tribble, CEO of Agoric Systems, remarked on the API’s launch: “We are thrilled to introduce a platform that facilitates rich, one-click user experiences, opening up new economic opportunities across various chains. Currently, in Web3, even straightforward tasks require excessive effort and expertise. Agoric Orchestration brings unique technology to help developers advance their applications into the next generation of Web3.”

Interchain trading platform Calypso plans to utilize Agoric Orchestration for its staking widget. Users will be able to stake into any IBC-enabled chain using virtually any starting token (like ETH or SOL) with just one click. Traditionally, cross-chain staking might involve up to six steps, including multiple signatures, but the Agoric Orchestration streamlines it to a single action.

John DiBernardi, Co-Founder of Calypso, stated about the integration, “In terms of executing actions across multiple blockchains, Agoric Orchestration is unparalleled. We’ve managed to transform time-consuming and frustrating DeFi processes into a one-click experience, benefiting both newcomers and seasoned users.”

Developers interested in leveraging the multi-chain capabilities can apply for Agoric’s Early Access Program, which offers tailored technical support, financial incentives, and early access to new features.
