Harris Expands Lead Over Trump to 47%-40%, According to Reuters/Ipsos Poll

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has slightly increased her lead over Republican challenger Donald Trump among registered voters, holding a 47% to 40% advantage, according to a new poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos.

The three-day survey revealed that Harris received support from 46.61% of registered voters, while Trump garnered 40.48%. The poll carries a margin of error of four percentage points.

In a previous poll conducted on September 11-12, following a heated debate between the candidates, Harris had a five-point lead over Trump.

Harris has made progress in reducing Trump’s advantage on important issues such as the economy, unemployment, and jobs. About 43% of voters believe Trump would handle the economy and job creation better, while 41% favored Harris. Trump had previously held a three-point lead in an early August poll and an 11-point advantage when Harris launched her campaign in late July.

However, when asked specifically about which candidate could better manage “the US economy,” Trump maintained a solid lead of 45% to 36%. The poll also indicated that the economy remains the top concern for voters.

Recently, Trump committed to establishing new manufacturing zones on federal land and taking a harder stance with US trading partners.

In contrast, Harris has proposed tax breaks for families with children and an increase in corporate tax rates. She is expected to elaborate on her economic plans this week, although some advisers express concerns that she may be running out of time to sway voters.

As the final weeks of campaigning approach before the November election, polls indicate that the race remains close, especially in key battleground states that could significantly impact the election results.

Additionally, a recent CNN poll showed that Harris was favored by 48% of likely voters, with Trump trailing closely at 47%.
