U.S. Secretary of State Confident in NATO Consensus for Sweden and Finland
BERLIN – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed Turkey’s concerns regarding Sweden and Finland’s potential NATO membership, expressing optimism about reaching a consensus following a meeting of foreign ministers.
"I do not want to characterize the specific conversation with the foreign minister or the discussions within the NATO sessions, but I can state this: there was overwhelming support for Sweden and Finland joining the alliance," he remarked to reporters after the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Berlin.
"If that’s what they choose to do, I am very confident we will achieve consensus on that."
