Caterer Sodexo Considers Acquiring US Rival Aramark, According to Bloomberg News
French food catering company Sodexo is considering a potential acquisition of its U.S. competitor, Aramark, according to a report by Bloomberg News on Wednesday.
The two companies have been in talks regarding the deal over the past few months, as per sources familiar with the discussions. However, it remains uncertain whether these negotiations will result in a formal agreement. Additionally, such a deal could attract antitrust scrutiny, and Sodexo would need to secure substantial funding to facilitate the acquisition.
Aramark, headquartered in Philadelphia and operating across 15 countries, boasts a market capitalization exceeding $9.8 billion.
Both companies have refrained from commenting on the report. Sodexo, which provided catering services for the recent Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games and divested its voucher business at the beginning of February, continues to raise prices, albeit at a slower pace, to mitigate the impact of high inflation.
