BRUSSELS – Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem expressed his disappointment on Wednesday regarding the European Commission’s decision not to impose fines on Spain and Portugal for failing to reduce their budget deficits below the EU limit.
Dijsselbloem stated, “It is disappointing that there is no follow-up on the conclusion that Spain and Portugal did not take effective action to consolidate their budgets.” He emphasized that despite the efforts made, both countries remain at risk.
