Iran Denies Targeting Former US Officials Following Trump’s Allegations of Assassination Attempts

Iran has dismissed accusations that it targeted former U.S. officials as unfounded, following statements from former President Donald Trump, who implicated Iran without providing evidence in alleged assassination attempts against him.

Nasser Kanaani, spokesperson for the Iranian foreign ministry, stated, “It is obvious that such accusations are just a part of creating the election atmosphere in the U.S., and not even worth a response.”

Trump, who is campaigning to regain the presidency, claimed on Wednesday that Iran might be behind recent assassination efforts against him. He warned that if he were president and another nation threatened a U.S. presidential candidate, it could face severe consequences.

At an event at a pipe-fittings plant in Mint Hill, North Carolina, Trump said, “There have been two assassination attempts on my life that we know of, and they may or may not involve, but possibly do, Iran, but I don’t really know.”

This statement followed a briefing from U.S. intelligence officials who informed him about “real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him,” as stated by his campaign.

Federal authorities are currently investigating assassination attempts against Trump at his golf course in Florida in mid-September and during a rally in Pennsylvania in July. However, law enforcement agencies have not indicated any involvement from Iran or any foreign entity in these incidents.
