
Portugal Stocks Higher at Close of Trade; PSI Up 0.54%
Investing.com – Portuguese stocks closed higher on Friday, driven by gains in various sectors.
By the end of trading in Lisbon, the main index saw an increase of 0.54%.
The standout performer of the session was Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA, which rose 2.21% or 0.39 points, finishing at 18.03. Galp Energia Nom followed, adding 1.94% or 0.32 points to close at 16.55, while EDP Renovaveis experienced a gain of 1.29% or 0.20 points, ending at 15.68.
Conversely, Banco Comercial Portugues was the worst performer, declining 1.83% or 0.01 points to close at 0.41. CTT Correios de Portugal SA dropped 0.91% or 0.04 points, finishing at 4.38, and Greenvolt Energias Renovaveis SA fell 0.36% or 0.03 points to close at 8.31.
Overall, rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by a ratio of 20 to 9, with 3 remaining unchanged.
In the commodities market, Brent oil for December delivery increased by 0.80% or 0.57, reaching $71.66 per barrel. Meanwhile, crude oil for November delivery rose 1.02% or 0.69, hitting $68.36 per barrel. On the other hand, the December Gold Futures contract decreased by 0.89% or 23.85, trading at $2,671.05 per troy ounce.
In currency markets, the EUR/USD pair was stable, with only a slight change of 0.17% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP remained unchanged at 0.83. The US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 0.04%, settling at 100.21.
