Belgium Stocks Rise at Close of Trade; BEL 20 Up 0.91%

Belgium’s stock market showed positive momentum following the close on Friday, driven by gains in several sectors.

At the end of trading in Brussels, the index climbed 0.91%, reaching a new 52-week high.

The top performers of the day included Syensqo SA, which saw an increase of 5.61%, or 4.23 points, finishing at 79.61. Umicore SA also performed well, rising 4.74%, or 0.54 points, to close at 11.94. D’Ieteren NV was up 2.77%, or 5.30 points, ending the day at 196.90.

Conversely, UCB SA was the worst performer, dropping 1.53%, or 2.50 points, to trade at 161.35. Proximus NV fell 0.91%, or 0.07 points, closing at 7.04. Additionally, Sofina saw a decline of 0.55%, or 1.40 points, finishing at 254.00.

On the Brussels Stock Exchange, advancing stocks outnumbered those in decline by 75 to 30, with 8 issues remaining unchanged.

In terms of commodities, December gold futures decreased by 0.94%, or 25.30, to settle at $2,669.60 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, November crude oil futures increased by 0.55%, or 0.37, reaching $68.04 per barrel. The December contract for Brent crude oil also saw a rise of 0.38%, or 0.27, trading at $71.36 per barrel.

In the currency market, the EUR/USD exchange rate was steady, changing only 0.17% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP remained nearly unchanged at 0.83.

The US Dollar Index futures slipped 0.03%, landing at 100.21.
