Tesla Reintroduces Rear-Wheel Model Y at Discounted Price
Tesla Inc. has brought back the rear-wheel-drive version of its Model Y crossover in the U.S. This decision follows a third-quarter delivery report that fell short of Wall Street’s expectations.
Since its introduction in March 2020, the Model Y has remained the best-selling vehicle for Tesla. The rear-wheel-drive Model Y is now listed with a starting price of $43,990 and offers a range of 242 to 260 miles.
Throughout this year, Tesla has made multiple adjustments to its pricing. During the third quarter, the company recorded global sales of 435,059 vehicles. In order to meet its annual sales goal of 1.8 million units, Tesla must accelerate its sales over the coming three months.
In the third quarter alone, Tesla produced more than 430,000 vehicles and delivered over 435,000. The reduction in sales volume was attributed to planned factory downtime for upgrades, as noted in the most recent earnings call.
As of early trading on Tuesday, Tesla’s shares have declined by 1.60%.
