Missile Fired from Yemen Intercepted, Israeli Military Reports – Reuters

JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Air raid sirens were activated throughout central Israel on Saturday, including in Tel Aviv, accompanied by loud explosions after a missile was launched from Yemen and subsequently intercepted, according to the Israeli military.

The Houthi militants from Yemen later claimed responsibility for firing a ballistic missile aimed at Ben Gurion International Airport, situated near Tel Aviv. They indicated that the attack was deliberately timed to coincide with the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had returned to Israel on Saturday after delivering a speech at the United Nations General Assembly the previous day.

This event marked the second missile attack by the Houthis on Israel in under two days, following the interception of another missile on Friday morning.

The Houthi movement also recently mourned the death of Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, an ally in an Iran-supported coalition opposing Israel, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut.
