Blockchain Startup Assists Curacao and Sint Maarten C-Bank in Evaluating Digital Currency Concept
Barbados-based blockchain company Bitt is collaborating with the central bank of Curacao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) to explore the potential benefits of issuing a digital currency. This partnership follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on August 3.
Since the establishment of a monetary union in 2010, both Dutch constituent countries have utilized a shared currency, the Netherlands Antillean guilder. However, this common currency has led to challenges for the two Caribbean islands, particularly regarding the cost and time associated with the physical distribution of money across the sea.
