New Ransomware Employs Banking Trojan to Target Governments and Businesses
A new variant of ransomware has surfaced recently, prompting concern among cybersecurity experts and officials, including the FBI in the United States. A report by cybersecurity firm Group-IB, released on May 17, highlights this emerging threat.
The ransomware, identified as ProLock, utilizes the Qakbot banking trojan to execute its attacks. Victims are often confronted with demands for six-figure ransoms, which are required to be paid in Bitcoin to recover their encrypted files.
