Cargo Operations Resume at the Port of Los Angeles – Reuters
Cargo operations at the Port of Los Angeles have resumed following a fire incident last week, which was triggered by an overturned tractor trailer carrying lithium batteries at Terminal Island.
In a statement posted on a social media platform, the Port of Los Angeles announced that terminals affected by the incident were expected to safely return to full operations on Saturday, September 28.
After various agencies worked to relocate the trailer to a safe area where it could burn out, key roadways including the Vincent Thomas Bridge and Seaside Avenue were reopened, allowing cargo operations to continue.
The fire, which occurred near Ocean & Navy Way on Terminal Island on Thursday, had initially caused disruptions that led to the temporary closure of APM Terminals, Fenix Marine, Everport, and Yusen Terminals.
