Six People Missing and Feared Dead in Burned House Near Philadelphia, Reports Reuters
Investigators announced that six family members are currently unaccounted for and are feared dead following a house fire in a Philadelphia suburb. The fire was allegedly set by a suspect who also shot and injured two police officers responding to the scene.
The family, identified by the surname Le, were the occupants of the house, according to Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer. Investigators uncovered the charred remains of one individual and have located a rifle at the site.
The events unfolded on Wednesday when police were called to a residence in East Lansdowne after reports of an 11-year-old girl being shot. Upon arrival, officers came under fire from a suspect inside the home, who also initiated a blaze that consumed the two-story structure.
The intensity of the fire made it impossible for firefighters to enter the building, as thick smoke and flames emerged from it, as stated by Stollsteimer.
The two injured police officers are reportedly in stable condition, with one sustaining a gunshot wound to the forearm and the other to the leg. Stollsteimer shared positive news regarding their recovery, stating they have shown encouraging signs.
