Airstrikes Target Multiple Areas in Yemen, Reports Houthi Al Masirah TV

Airstrikes were launched on Friday targeting various locations in Yemen, including the capital Sanaa and Hodeidah airport, according to Al Masirah TV, which is operated by the Houthi movement currently in control of much of the country, as well as local residents.

The strikes also hit the southern area of Dhamar city and the southeastern region of al-Bayda province. Residents reported that the attacks in al-Bayda specifically targeted multiple Houthi military installations.

Al Masirah TV claimed that the airstrikes were conducted by U.S. and British forces; however, a source from the British government denied any involvement in the operations.

The Iran-aligned Houthi fighters have been conducting attacks on international shipping near Yemen since last November in support of Palestinians amidst the ongoing conflict with Hamas in Israel. These assaults have prompted retaliatory strikes from the U.S. and British forces, as well as disruptions in global trade. Consequently, ship owners have begun rerouting vessels away from the Red Sea and Suez Canal, opting for longer journeys around the southern tip of Africa.

In response to the airstrikes, a spokesman for the Houthi movement characterized the assault as “a desperate attempt,” asserting that “Yemen will not be deterred by these attacks and will continue its steadfastness in confronting the enemies.”
