Portugal Stocks Close Lower; PSI Declines 0.33%

Portugal’s stock market experienced a decline after Thursday’s close, primarily driven by losses in several sectors.

By the end of the trading day in Lisbon, the main index fell by 0.33%.

Among the top performers were Mota Engil SGPS SA, which saw an increase of 3.82%, earning 0.10 points to close at 2.61. Banco Comercial Portugues also performed well, rising by 2.92% or 0.01 points to finish at 0.42, while Nos SGPS SA gained 0.55% or 0.02 points, ending the day at 3.68.

In contrast, the worst performers included Galp Energia, which dropped by 5.11% or 0.88 points, closing at 16.24. Corticeira Amorim saw a decrease of 1.45% or 0.13 points to finish at 8.85, and CTT Correios de Portugal SA fell by 1.12% or 0.05 points, ending at 4.42.

The Lisbon Stock Exchange saw more declining stocks than advancing ones, with a count of 13 to 11, while six stocks remained unchanged.

Notably, shares in Nos SGPS SA reached a 52-week high, increasing by 0.55% or 0.02 points.

In the commodities market, Brent crude oil for December delivery fell by 1.93% or 1.41, settling at $71.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, November crude oil decreased by 2.20% or 1.53, reaching $68.16 a barrel. On the other hand, December gold futures rose by 0.20% or 5.25, trading at $2,689.95 per troy ounce.

In currency markets, the EUR/USD pair remained steady at 1.12, while the EUR/GBP pair held steady at 0.83. The US Dollar Index Futures experienced a decline of 0.31%, landing at 100.32.
