Fed’s Neel Kashkari Doubts Rate Hikes Are Finished – WSJ By Reuters
Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank President Neel Kashkari indicated that he prefers to err on the side of tightening monetary policy to ensure inflation declines to the central bank’s 2% target, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.
In an interview, Kashkari expressed concern that failing to tighten sufficiently could hinder progress toward the inflation goal. He stated, “Undertightening will not get us back to 2% in a reasonable time.”
Furthermore, Kashkari mentioned that he requires additional information before making any definitive decisions regarding future interest rate adjustments. “I am not ready to say we are in a good place,” he noted.
