U.N. Envoy Expresses Deep Concern Over Yemen Hostilities, Reports Reuters
DUBAI (Reuters) – The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen has expressed deep concern over the recent hostilities in the country and is calling on all parties to de-escalate tensions, as stated by his office on social media on Thursday.
The Houthis in Yemen have reached an agreement with the Saudi-backed government to establish a ceasefire in Hodeidah province and to withdraw their respective forces as part of a U.N.-facilitated peace deal signed in Sweden last December.
The office of Martin Griffiths emphasized the need for swift redeployments in accordance with the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC) plan outlined in the peace agreement.
