Meta Rises Following Launch of New AR Glasses and AI Enhancements

Meta experienced a boost in its stock on Wednesday following the launch of its first augmented reality glasses during its annual connect event. The company is making significant strides to incorporate AI features across its platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.

In recent trading, Meta Platforms Inc. saw an increase of 2%.

The newly introduced Orion augmented reality glasses are designed to provide “digital experiences that are unconstrained by the limits of a smartphone screen.” These glasses feature holographic displays and the ability to integrate contextual AI, enabling them to anticipate and actively address user needs.

Additionally, Meta announced a more affordable mixed reality headset, the Meta Quest 3, priced from $299, with shipments set to begin on October 15.

The company’s AI assistant, Meta AI, also received a range of updates, enhancing its capability to respond to questions across various platforms, including Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Facebook. Users will have the option to choose from multiple voices, including AI replicas of celebrities that Meta has collaborated with.

Meta reported that Meta AI attracts approximately 400 million users each month.
