Bitcoin Core Developer Protects Bitcoin Cash from Serious Vulnerability
In light of the ongoing tensions between different cryptocurrency communities, it may come as a surprise that a Bitcoin Core developer reached out to the Bitcoin Cash project and played a key role in resolving a significant issue within the community.
This was the case, according to Cory Fields, a Bitcoin Core developer.
On April 25, 2018, Fields anonymously disclosed a critical vulnerability in Bitcoin Cash, one of the leading cryptocurrencies distinct from Bitcoin. If exploited, this vulnerability could have caused significant disruptions, making safe transactions in Bitcoin Cash impossible and ultimately jeopardizing the currency’s utility and value. Thankfully, the vulnerability was promptly addressed without any incidents and was publicly disclosed on May 7, 2018.
