Satoshi Nakamoto’s Identity Should Never Be Revealed, Hints Anthony Pompliano
Anthony Pompliano, a prominent venture capital investor and founder of Pomp Investments, has shared his perspective on the potential revelation of Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity in an upcoming documentary titled “Money Electric: The Mystery,” set to be released this week.
While many are eager for a possible unveiling of one of the 21st century’s most enigmatic figures, Pompliano belongs to a group that believes the true identity of Satoshi may remain a mystery forever, arguing that this uncertainty might be beneficial.
In a recent tweet, Pompliano remarked, “The world is better off not knowing who Satoshi Nakamoto was.” His comments resonated with several commentators, including well-known crypto blogger Lark Davis, who remarked, “Some stones are best left unturned.” The crypto community reacted vigorously to Pompliano’s tweet, with some supporting his view, others theorizing that Satoshi was part of a team of developers, and some even suggesting connections to intelligence agencies.
Recent reports indicate that most bettors on the Polymarket prediction platform believe Len Sassaman, an early cypherpunk and advocate for decentralization and online privacy, is the most likely candidate for Satoshi. Unfortunately, Sassaman passed away in 2011, which adds complexity to the speculation surrounding this identity.
Additionally, Satoshi’s last communication on the BitcoinTalk forum mentioned a departure to focus on other projects, fueling theories that Sassaman may have been involved. Another contender is Adam Back, the founder and CEO of Blockstream and creator of Hashcash. Back has been referenced in the Bitcoin whitepaper from 2008 and corresponded with Satoshi during Bitcoin’s development. However, he has repeatedly denied being Nakamoto and recently tweeted that he is not Satoshi, asserting that the documentary will likely be misguided since no one truly knows Satoshi’s identity.
Billy Markus, co-founder of a major cryptocurrency, also expressed skepticism, tweeting that he expects to be “underwhelmed and disappointed” by the documentary, as he does not anticipate it will uncover Satoshi’s true identity.
