
Brazil Stocks Decline at Market Close; Bovespa Falls 0.42%
Brazilian stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with declines in various sectors contributing to the downward trend.
At the end of trading in Sao Paulo, the main index fell by 0.42%.
Braskem SA emerged as the top performer, seeing a rise of 4.42% or 0.85 points to finish at 20.07. Other notable gainers included CSN Mineracao SA, which saw an increase of 2.43% or 0.16 points, closing at 6.75, and BRF SA, up 2.39% or 0.59 points to reach 25.27.
Conversely, 3R Petroleum Oleo E Gas SA experienced the worst performance, declining 6.47% or 1.26 points to close at 18.20. YDUQS Participacoes SA fell by 5.63% or 0.54 points to end at 9.06, while Cogna Educacao SA dropped 5.30% or 0.07 points to finish at 1.25.
On the B3 Stock Exchange, declining stocks outnumbered those that rose by a count of 600 to 337, with 41 stocks remaining unchanged.
YDUQS Participacoes SA shares fell to a 52-week low, while shares of Cogna Educacao SA reached a 5-year low.
The volatility index for Bovespa options decreased by 4.09%, reaching a level of 26.51.
In commodities, December gold futures rose by 0.21% or 5.75, trading at $2,682.75 per troy ounce. In contrast, November crude oil dropped by 2.46% or 1.76, settling at $69.80 a barrel. December US coffee C contract increased by 0.30% or 0.80, reaching a price of $268.60.
In the currency market, USD/BRL was up 0.48% to 5.48, while EUR/BRL fell by 0.17% to 6.09. The US Dollar Index Futures also saw a rise of 0.52%, reaching 100.68.
