
Brazil Stocks Higher at Close of Trade; Bovespa Up 1.08%
Brazilian stocks finished higher on Thursday, bolstered by gains in several key sectors.
At the end of trading in São Paulo, the main index rose by 1.08%.
Leading the session’s advance were Azul SA Pref, which surged by 10.00% or 0.51 points to close at 5.61. Companhia Siderurgica Nacional followed with an increase of 8.95% or 1.09 points, ending the day at 13.27. Meanwhile, Cogna Educacao SA saw a rise of 7.20% or 0.09 points, bringing its closing price to 1.34.
On the downside, 3R Petroleum Oleo E Gas SA experienced the most significant drop, falling by 6.54% or 1.19 points to close at 17.01. Prio SA reported a decline of 4.84% or 2.17 points, concluding at 42.64, while Vivara Participacoes SA decreased by 3.13% or 0.86 points, finishing at 26.64.
On the B3 Stock Exchange, advancing stocks outnumbered declining ones by a tally of 483 to 462, with 51 stocks remaining unchanged. 3R Petroleum Oleo E Gas SA also hit all-time lows during trading.
The implied volatility index for Bovespa options rose by 3.39% to 27.41.
In commodities, gold futures for December delivery increased by 0.40% or 10.65 points, reaching $2,695.35 per troy ounce. In contrast, November crude oil futures fell by 3.19% or 2.22 points, settling at $67.47 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract climbed by 1.68% or 4.53 points, trading at $273.63.
In the foreign exchange market, the USD/BRL currency pair was down by 0.61% to 5.44, and the EUR/BRL fell by 0.10% to 6.09. The US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 0.33%, closing at 100.29.
