Brazil Supreme Court Refers New Graft Charges Against Temer to Congress, Reports Reuters
By Ricardo Brito
BRASILIA – A majority of the judges on Brazil’s Supreme Court voted on Wednesday to forward new corruption charges against President Michel Temer to the lower house of Congress. This step is crucial, as Congress must authorize any trial of a sitting president.
Recently, Temer’s allies in Congress successfully blocked the first corruption charge against him, which prevented a Supreme Court trial that could have led to his removal from office.
