Indonesia’s President Appoints World Bank’s Sri Mulyani as Finance Minister, Reports Reuters

JAKARTA – Indonesia’s president has appointed Sri Mulyani Indrawati, currently the managing director at the World Bank, as the country’s new finance minister in a broader cabinet reshuffle aimed at enhancing his administration’s effectiveness.

In this reorganization, former army general Wiranto will take over the role of chief security minister from Luhut Pandjaitan. Additionally, there will be changes in the positions of the ministers for trade, energy, and industry.

Sri Mulyani previously held the finance minister position under former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

The new cabinet, set to be sworn in later today, will include at least one representative from Indonesia’s second-largest political party, Golkar.
